The button to "View My Mail" in email notifications opens Microsoft Edge. How do I change this?
⚡ Quick Answer: Links in your email open in Microsoft Edge because Edge is set as your Windows default browser. Change the default browser in Windows Settings. If you use Outlook or Teams, also check their own link settings, which can override Windows.
Step 1: Change Your Windows Default Browser
- Press
Win + Ito open Settings (or click Start and select the Settings cog) - Click Apps in the left menu, then Default apps
- Search for the browser you want (for example Google Chrome or Brave) and click Set default
- Still in Default apps, click Choose defaults by link type (or Choose default apps by protocol)
- Scroll to HTTP and HTTPS, click the app listed next to each, and select your preferred browser
Step 2: Check Microsoft 365 App Settings
Only needed if links still open in Edge. Microsoft Teams and the new Outlook have their own link settings that can override Windows.
In Microsoft Outlook
- Click File › Options
- Select Advanced
- Under File and browser preferences, change Open hyperlinks from Outlook in to Default Browser
In Microsoft Teams
- Click the three dots (…) next to your profile picture, then Settings
- Click Files and links
- Under Link open preference, change Always open links in to Default browser
Common Questions
Is this a Windows setting, not a Hoxton Mix setting?
Yes. The "View My Mail" button is a normal web link. Your computer decides which browser opens it.
Can I just open the portal directly?
Yes. Go to account.hoxtonmix.com in any browser and log in with your registered email.
